Interact and UNICEF make their mark through charity car wash

Posted on August 25, 2022

Recently service clubs Interact and UNICEF organised a successful car wash at Macleans College.

Four simple steps to a car wash – hose the exterior, then soap and sponge with detail, rinse generously, then shammy efficiently – proved to be arduous but rewarding for the students.

Taking place on the school Open Day, their initiative quickly became popular with queues of parents and teachers alike. This gave students plenty of opportunity to adapt quickly and by the end of the day, their efficiency and camaraderie were deserving of high praise.

Together, the students' efforts raised almost $500, which will be jointly donated to Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand (CFNZ) and UNICEF.

Interact Executives Sue Jynn Leong (Rutherford House), Shafquat Tabeeb (Mansfield), Caelyn Pak (Te Kanawa), and Eason Chee (Mansfield) led this event on the day, while executives Wei Tian Teo, Nancy Chen (both of Rutherford), Regina Yun (Upham), and Ivan Yun (Te Kanawa) instrumented the logistics prior.

UNICEF Executives leading on the day were Mushfiqur Khan, William Huang, and Eric Deng (all of Mansfield).

A special thank you to Ms Milne, teacher-in-charge of Interact club, for her immense help with organisation on the day, as well as all of the students involved in the car wash.
