Inaugural Pride Week held at Macleans College

Posted on July 20, 2022

In the last week of Term 2, Macleans College celebrated its first ever Pride Week.

Students from the LGBTIQA+ Advocacy Group organised a range of activities across the week to raise awareness and affirm all the different rainbow identities in the school. The events were for everyone, no matter how any individual identifies and it was great to see so many students and staff support this initiative across the school.

The activities across the week included a pride themed quiz with rainbow themed prizes, pride themed short films, a bake sale, and a Q&A session with national charity InsideOUT. Throughout the week, flags and stickers were displayed proudly across the school helping everyone to learn more about the different pride flags and identities they represent.

The LGBTIQA+ Advocacy Group meets weekly as advertised in the daily notices. As well as organising pride week, there are presentations on different topics, sharing of ideas and opportunities to make new friends and connections. All are welcome to these meetings.
