Are you a career changer or a recent graduate interested in training as a secondary school teacher?
Macleans College is hosting students from the Auckland Schools' Teacher Training Programme and The Teachers’ Institute in 2025.
About the programmes:
Auckland School’s Teacher Training Programme (ASTTP)
A joint venture between 40 Auckland Secondary Schools and the University of Waikato.
The Teachers’ Institute
A recently formed independent organisation founded by 13 secondary schools to support the training of teachers in Auckland.
These one-year, hands-on programmes, are designed to rapidly accelerate your learning as you train to be a teacher in a school environment.
Programme highlights
- Full engagement in school life
- Enhanced workplace readiness by the end of the year
- Personal mentoring by an experienced teacher
- Domestic fees paid
- A stipend to support living expenses
Prospective teachers undertake their training on-site at a school while completing their academic qualification with either the University of Waikato or The Teachers’ Institute.
