In-school Teacher Training

Are you a career changer or a recent graduate interested in training as a secondary school teacher?

The Auckland School’s Teacher Training Programme (ASTTP) is a joint venture between 40 Auckland Secondary Schools and the University of Waikato. This one-year, hands-on programme is designed to rapidly accelerate your learning as you train to be a teacher in a school environment.

Prospective teachers undertake their training on-site in a school while completing their academic qualification online with the University of Waikato. Over the course of a year, teacher trainees will be fully engaged in school life. Mentored by an experienced subject-area expert while experiencing the breadth of school life, graduates will be fully equipped to start teaching on completion of their qualification.

In addition to the experience of being immersed in school life, trainee's domestic course fees are paid, and they receive a $12,500 stipend.

Applications are welcomed from those interested in teacher training on-site at Macleans College. Further details, including how to apply, can be found at www.schoolbasedtraining.org and applications sent to Linda Roberts [email protected]
