Impressive spectacle at the Big Sing regionals

On Tuesday 20 June, four Macleans College choirs took part in the Big Sing regional competition held at Auckland Town Hall.

A total of 230 students represented the college performing with Aria (all comers female choir), Knights of the Castle (all comers male choir), Chorale (premiere mixed choir) and the newly established Troppi (all choirs combined).

An eclectic mix of repertoire was presented from traditional Māori and Samoan items to original choral works. The spectacle of 230 Macleans College students on stage accompanied by the town hall organ, grand piano and percussion, was a real highlight of this year’s festival and something that the students will remember for years to come.

The choirs then shifted their attention to the annual school Eisteddfod which rounded off a very musically heavy term.
