Impressive Results at the Auckland Get to Go Adventure Race

Posted on August 17, 2018

On 7 August two Macleans College teams competed in the Auckland 4 hour Get to Go Adventure Race.

The day consisted of a 4 hour adventure race involving a foot rogaine, team problem solving, paddle boarding and mountain biking.  Both teams performed extremely well with Team Alpha placing 2nd in the Auckland Mixed Premiere Competition and MC2, made up of mostly Year 9 students, placing 8th in the Mixed Open Competition.

Team Alpha did well across the board but unfortunately a navigational course choice left them out of contention for a first placing, however they rallied and fought on to post 2nd overall out of sixteen teams. The team should be extremely proud of their achievement and the Sunday morning three-hour trainings certainly paid off with the team out stripping other teams on the physical challenges and working well as a team.

Both teams are very committed and disciplined.  The experience they gained will be invaluable in next year’s competition.

Thank you to Mr Hey and Mrs Durham for their continued support of this extra-curricular activity.
