Impressive performance in Cross Country Championships

The Macleans College Cross Country squad comprising 45 students across all year levels participated at the Cross Country Championships held at Saint Kentigern College on Thursday 23 May.
The event brought students from all secondary schools across Auckland. Macleans College achieved some excellent results on the day.
In the Junior Girls event, Abbey Bolton (Kupe House) placed 17th out of 73 competitors with Sophia Urlich (Te Kanawa) close behind in 22nd , Kendal Penney (Snell) finishing 27th and Anneliese Parsons (Mansfield) finishing 30th. Christian de Vaal (Kupe) won the Junior Boys race with a time of 14:21 and Flynn Verner (Kupe) and Dylan Koshy (Rutherford) finished 14th and 15th respectively.
The Intermediate Girls race saw Amelia Winstone (Kupe) finish 24th and the Intermediate Boys had David de Vaal of Kupe (12th), Ronan Codyre of Batten (16th), Joe Shiozawa of Rutherford (18th) and Luke Hitchcock of Snell (19th) all finish in the top 20.
In the Senior Girls, Maddi Hohneck (Snell) finished 6th, Caitlin Harley (Upham) finished 8th and Mia Bolton (Kupe) finished in 12th place. The final race of the day was the Senior Boys and Matthew Wilson (Kupe) finished in 4th place with a time of 21:21.
In the 3-person team event, the Junior Boys team consisting of Christian de Vaal, Flynn Verner and Dylan Koshy finished 3rd overall and the Senior Girls team consisting of Maddi Hohneck, Caitlin Harley and Mia Bolton finished 2nd overall.
In the 6-person team event, the Senior Boys team consisting of Matthew Wilson, Harry Smith (Snell), Jake Hellawell (Rutherford), Andre McKay (Te Kanawa), Kalani Hokianga (Kupe) and Dominic Mutti (Batten) finished 3rd overall.
