Song Kang 12GGHK was selected last year as part of the Australia and New Zealand delegation, consisting of 27 students to participate in the Model United Nations Conference which was held in the USA last month.
At both the Harvard and Yale Model United Nations the team debated a wide range of international issues as part of their two week study tour. For the Harvard Model United Nations, in which three thousand students participated Song was the German Minister of the Interior. His role was to discuss domestic German economic policy and the issue of refugees and security. For the Yale Model United Nations he represented the Netherlands delegation in the prosecution of Japan for war crimes committed during World War Two. Over sixteen hundred students participated in this event.
Students aged between 14-18 were selected across New Zealand and Australia to be part of this prestigious delegation. They were given a unique training programme in which they received guidance on how to produce conference documents such as briefing papers, position papers and resolutions.
