Haiku and Shodo Competition 2017

A number of Macleans College students were successful at the recent awards ceremony held at the Consulate General of Japan for the Annual Haiku and Shodo Competition.
This event aims to provide the opportunity for learners of Japanese language to express their thoughts and feelings in a Japanese Haiku poem and to experience the traditional Japanese art of calligraphy.
Joyce Chen, a Year 12 student from Te Kanawa House won 2nd prize in the AUT Award. Kevin Shen, a Year 13 international student from Rutherford won a Special Award. Two Year 10 students from Batten, Ian Hsu and Ariel Wang, won Highly Commended prizes.
The prizes were sponsored by the Japan Foundation and the competition was open to Year 10 to 13 students who are studying Japanese at schools throughout New Zealand.
