Ground breaking ceremony for new Technology and Science Block
Posted on December 13, 2019
On Thursday 5 December Allen McDonald, second principal of Macleans College, ‘turned the first sod’ to mark the beginning of the project that will see the construction of new Technology and Science classrooms.
Mr McDonald is recognised for his work in securing Macleans’ status as one of New Zealand’s top academic high schools.
The new science laboratories are due for completion in 2022 and will carry Mr McDonald’s name. The spade used to turn the first sod was given to Mr McDonald by the staff of the school when he retired in 2000.
The project is the largest undertaken by the school and includes new technology workshops, graphics rooms, science laboratories and supporting office and storage spaces. The project is scheduled to take two and half years.
