Posted on August 05, 2020
On Friday 31 July, Green Party Co-Leader Marama Davidson visited Macleans College to talk to the Year 13 Social Studies class and members of the Amnesty International club.
During the hour-long session, the MP was able to discuss the legislative process in Parliament. This allowed the students to gain further insight into the Parliament and understand that the voice of the public is an extremely important part of the process.
The Green Party MP spoke about the party’s position on the Cannabis Legalisation and Control Bill and End of Life Choice Bill, which will be voted by the public as a referendum this coming September. She was also able to explain her personal opinion on these based on her beliefs and the voices of people. This allowed students to be more open-minded and think critically about this referendum.
Many thanks to Mrs Davidson for taking time out of her busy schedule to speak at Macleans College.
