Geography Students Experience Tourism in Rotorua
Posted on May 16, 2019
The A Level Geography class recently visited Rotorua which is located in the heart of the North Island.
Rotorua is a tourism destination for both domestic and international tourists. The area is known for its geothermal activity.
The trip was designed to give the students a primary experience of tourism in Rotorua and a direct understanding of a hazardous environment. They embraced a diverse range of attractions such as Skyline Luge, the Agrodome, Te Puia and enjoyed a traditional Maori evening finished off with a Hangi. However, the highlight was the climb to the peak of Mount Tarawera. The views from the top were outstanding and the students could observe the Taupo volcanic zone from Whakaari (White Island) in the north to Tongariro national park in the south.
The students embraced every attraction and it was extremely beneficial to apply theory to the real world.
