Geography students collect data at Muriwai Beach

Posted on March 31, 2021

On Tuesday 23 March the Macleans College NCEA Level 3 Geography students visited Muriwai Beach to collect data for their geographical investigation.

The students gathered data to prove, or disprove, their hypothesis that had been set previously in the classroom. An array of techniques were used to measure different coastal processes such as longshore drift, beach profiles and saltation.

It was a beautiful day and allowed the students to gather the important data they needed in perfect conditions.

As well as completing the collection of data, the students walked around Otakamiro Point to view the gannet colony and the remarkable tectonic landscape.
