Former student assists in Port Hills Fires

Keegan Gaarkeuken (Hillary House) who attended Macleans College from 2002 – 2006 was recently deployed alongside professional fire fighters to fight the Port Hills fires in Christchurch.
Keegan is a member of the Woodend Volunteer Fire Brigade and spent two 12-hour shifts protecting houses and stopping flare–ups from spreading. His day job is as a commercial pilot for Mount Cook Airlines where he is a First Officer on ATR 72-000 aircraft based in Christchurch.
Keegan has also been a Senior Surf Lifeguard at the Raglan Surf Life Saving Club for five years.
