Former Deputy Head Boy Accepted Into Harvard University

Ben Zhang (Mansfield House 2013 - 2017) has been offered a place at Harvard. He will commence his studies in the second half of 2018.
The 2017 Deputy Head Boy is keen on studying Biology as his major. He won a gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad held in England last year. Over 64 countries participated in this event and Ben was ranked 26th in the world.
Last year at Senior Prize-giving he was awarded the Prentice All-Rounder Cup for Boys and Dux. In 2016 he was declared Joint Dux with Lucas Lee from Hillary.
Ben’s academic achievements have been at the highest level including being awarded a Premier Scholarship in 2016. NZQA awards up to ten of these scholarships nationally each year. Ben’s Premier Scholarship included Outstanding Scholarship First in Subject – Physics, Outstanding Scholarship in Chemistry, Statistics, Calculus, and Scholarship in English, Physical Education, Earth and Space Science, Biology and Media Studies.
In 2016 Ben was awarded the CIE Best Across Three Cambridge International A Levels, and Top in New Zealand – English Literature and Chemistry. Ben’s results included 5 x A* Grades at Level.
In 2016 Ben was chosen to attend the International Chemistry Olympiad in Georgia.
