First Prize in Auckland Regional Japanese Trivia Championships

The Third New Zealand Schools Japanese Trivia Championships was held on 16th June at the AUT Campus.
Three teams from Macleans College participated in this competition.
One of Macleans teams consisting of Andrew Li (Snell House), Angel Loh (Hillary), Ariel Wang (Batten) and Rachel Teh (Mansfield) won 1st Prize in the Auckland Region and received a trophy on the day.
Twenty six teams took part in the event. The winning team scored 47/50 marks. Questions were based on Japanese culture and general knowledge.
The other two teams consisted of Emily Chen (Rutherford), Ji-Wan Choi (Snell), Rhian Fenton (Upham), Jessica Luo (Upham), Cynthia Yin (Hillary), Rhi Ann Yong (Hillary) and Jessica Zhang (Upham). They also scored high marks.
This is an annual event for junior students from Years 7 to 10. The evening aims to provide students with an opportunity to use their cultural knowledge for a real purpose together with students of Japanese from other schools.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the evening and achieved excellent results.
