A Macleans College team, represented by Hayley Xie (Upham House), Surathbudh Ebata (Batten) and Sanjit Ramesh Chandran (Hillary), recently won the 2019 New Zealand Secondary Schools Case Competition.
Another Macleans College team, consisting of Roy Zhao, Dulina Senevirathna, Andre Ramljak and Meysum Mehdi, all from Mansfield house, were also selected to go through to the final round of the competition.
The New Zealand Secondary Schools Case Competition, run by Auckland University of Technology, is an annual national business case competition.
Throughout the competition, teams are required to apply their business analytics and problem-solving skills to real-life business cases and propose comprehensive strategies under time pressure. This year, the preliminary round case was on Kono, a NZ indigenous food and beverages provider.
In the finals, teams were given the gruelling case of Sanford Limited, a NZ fishing company. With only a few hours to prepare their case, the Macleans team presented their proposal and strategies, followed by question and answer session. The panel of judges, which included the CEO of Sanford Limited, as well as the CEO of Ray White, highly commended the group's impressive presentation and business proposal.
The team was awarded the first place trophy as well as a cash prize of $1000.
The team would like to thank Mrs Ladkoo for her support.
