Silver and bronze at Fencing North Secondary Schools Individual Competition

Twelve Macleans College fencers, half of whom are fairly new to fencing, participated in the Fencing North Secondary Schools Individual Competition from 2 - 4 August.

Harry Zhou (Upham House), who is only in Year 9, was awarded with a well-earned silver medal in the Men’s Sabre. Harry has been making excellent progress and will be representing Macleans College at the upcoming Nationals competition, both as an individual and as part of the Men’s Sabre team.

Year 12 student Matt Wang (Mansfield) earned a silver medal in the Men’s Foil. Matt has been working hard this season and this is his best result to date. He will also be representing Macleans College as an individual and as part of the Men’s Foil team at the upcoming Nationals competition.

Cecilia Ma (Mansfield) of Year 12 earned a bronze medal in the Ladies' Sabre. Cecilia will compete for Macleans College at the upcoming Nationals competition, as an individual and as part of the Ladies’ Sabre team.

Some other noteworthy results were Year 10 student Eric Liu (Kupe), who in his first-ever competition, placed 14th in Men’s Foil. Maxwell Chen (Upham), Stacy Chong (Snell) and Craig Chong (Upham) were placed 10th, ninth and eighth respectively in the same event.
