Famous Opera Singer Visits Macleans College

Week Two of Term 4 saw a house assembly with a difference for Te Kanawa.
The operatic superstar, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, after whom the house is named, visited on Monday 17 October, much to the excitement and delight of staff and students.
Twenty five years after her first visit, Dame Kiri impressed and inspired through her clear commitment to her lifelong passion. She responded to students’ questions with honest and frank advice, and made it clear there are no shortcuts to success.
Prefects and Captains of Te Kanawa House delivered speeches and expressions of gratitude, before Emily Briggs sang beautifully, clearly impacting Dame Kiri herself, who praised her courage and talent in her later speech.
