Eyes for Everest Documentary
Posted on February 27, 2018
Former Macleans College student Shaun Chang (Batten House 1999 - 2003) was the subject of an interview filmed at the school in February.
Shaun has been a great admirer of Sir Edmund Hillary for many years and has been instrumental in arranging visits to Nepal, including fundraising to provide eye treatment to children and adults who travelled from many parts of the country to benefit from these services.
This initiative has been the subject of various news reports and more recently a feature length documentary which it is planned will be screened in New Zealand and Australia later this year.
Recently Shaun has enlisted the help of another former Macleans College student Nicole van Heerden (Rutherford House 1999 - 2003) who is the co-founder of the Waking Dream Collective which assists and promotes women in film. Nicole who is a film director, and her team, filmed the interview with Shaun and shares his commitment to provide further assistance to the people of Nepal with the ultimate aim of opening the first eye clinic in Sagarmatha National Park.
This is a remarkable achievement by two of our former students.
