Excellent Performance in Chess Tournament

Macleans College participated in the East Auckland Secondary Schools Chess Tournament which was held at the school on Monday 12th June.
The school fielded six teams in the event run by the New Zealand Chess Federation (NZCF). Two of the Macleans College teams were successful in coming 1st and 2nd and were awarded NZCF medals along with qualifying for the National Chess Tournament to be held in Christchurch later this year.
The team which placed 1st was Jasmine Zhang (Hillary), Richard Jiang (Upham), Terry Shen (Te Kanawa) and Karl Zhu (Snell).
The team which placed 2nd was Oliver Dai (Snell), Judd Zhan (Snell), Bryner Lum (Mansfield) and Alex Zhu (Hillary).
