ESOL students absorb business knowledge

Senior ESOL Immersion students recently visited Vertical Adventures in Henderson to explore the thrills and challenges of running an adventure-based business.

The day was packed with a variety of exciting activities and educational seminars. In between climbing sheer vertical walls, leaping across chasms, and appreciating a Lego collection so large it was used as collateral in a bank loan, students were instructed by business owner Darrin Worsfold on the secrets to success for turning a personal passion into a viable enterprise.

Students learnt about securing finances, managing multiple businesses within one organisation, hiring quality staff, and marketing products and services to the right target audience. What shone through was the importance of having a vision, and the dedication to see it through, even when times are hard.

It was an enlightening experience, and students left knowing that there is more to business than just account sheets and bankroll - it can be fun and meaningful too!
