ESOL Senior Immersion Trip to Mind Lab and MOTAT
Posted on June 21, 2018
On Friday 15 June, the ESOL Senior Immersion classes visited Mind Lab and the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT).
In the morning, they participated in two Robotic activities with the Mind Lab team. For the first activity, they had to work with a partner to create a car from a kitset and then test it for speed. It was great to see the students involved and problem solving to improve the outcome.
The second activity involved programming a robot and then testing it through a maze. This required several changes until the robot could follow the course.
In the afternoon, the students explored the many displays of MOTAT. Working out how to use the old dial telephone, playing hopscotch, locking each other up in the stocks outside the jail and visiting the schoolhouse were some of the highlights.
It was a day of discovery and thoroughly enjoyed by both students and staff.
