ESOL Senior Immersion Trip to Auckland Zoo

Posted on March 22, 2018

On Tuesday 20th March 62 ESOL students and their teachers visited Auckland Zoo.

As part of the trip they explored the Bugs Lab, an interactive activity created by the Weta Workshop Group. Not only did they see some amazing larger than life bugs, but the interactive activities gave them the opportunity to increase their knowledge.

They also explored the zoo, viewing the wide variety of animals and birds in their habitat and some were lucky enough to see a 19 year old lion having a health check at the hospital. A number of zookeepers were on hand to share their knowledge of the animals in their care.

The experience and the information gathered will now become part of the wider classroom activities. It was a special trip for the students as there were very few who had been to the zoo previously.
