ESOL Senior Immersion Auckland Maritime Museum Trip

Posted on March 29, 2017

On Wednesday March 22nd the ESOL Senior Immersion students visited the Auckland Maritime Museum in Central Auckland.

The students participated in a floating and sinking activity led by the museum teachers. Their goal was to create a boat out of tinfoil and successfully float it while adding plastic blocks. The record was 18 blocks.

They enjoyed a sailing trip around the Auckland Harbour on ‘The Ted Ashby’. The students had to hoist the sails to get us underway and for most it was their first experience on a sailing boat.

The day was completed by exploring the museum and experiencing the interactive activities.

The day was enjoyed by all. Everyone learnt something new about Aotearoa New Zealand.
