ESOL Marae Trip
Posted on April 04, 2016
On Thursday 31 March 56 Macleans College ESOL Senior Immersion students and their teachers visited Te Tahawai Marae located on the grounds of Edgewater College to participate in traditional Maori art activities and performances.
They learnt how to make flax flowers, perform with poi and also waiata. The students were welcomed on to the marae by a formal powhiri and Michael Liang 12NCM responded on behalf of the group. The group then performed a waiata “E Toru Nga Mea”.
The day was invaluable for the International students to experience Maori culture.
