ESOL Business Studies Market Day
Posted on September 27, 2017
On Wednesday 20 September, ESOL Immersion Business Studies classes held their Market Day in the Macleans College amphitheatre.
Preparation for the day involved producing a detailed Business Plan for their business activity completed in English. The students learnt how to write a mission statement and set SMART objectives. They prepared and carried out market research and analysed the data collected to help them choose the best product. In addition they came up with a budget and a detailed production process, then carefully selected their packaging and promotion poster.
On Market Day, the weather was sunny and warm which helped attract customers to the stalls. All 36 students busily prepared their stalls prior to lunch. Customers started appearing and very soon the amphitheatre was crowded with hungry students eager to try the chicken wings, dumplings or bubble tea.
It was a very successful day with lots of practical learning about preparing and running a small business.
