Equestrian Success

The Macleans College Equestrian team have recently represented the school in two premier North Island Championship events and have been placed in the top ten teams in their division for both.

The North Island Dressage Championships were held on April 8th at St Peters School in Cambridge. Natalie Fromont (9GMM), Lauren Bird (9BMS), Emily Driver (9GQR) and Emma Fromont (12GJM) made up a Development Level team and were placed 9th overall in the competition. All riders placed in the top ten in at least one of their classes with Natalie and Emma both earning a first placing in one of their two classes each. Brooke Manak (12LAB) competed in the Open Championship level of the competition and placed 1st and 4th in the highest two levels in the competition.

More recently a team made up of Year 9 students Natalie Fromont, Becky Duffett (9RYK) and Emily Driver attended the North Island Secondary Schools Horse Trials Championships. The team were placed a very creditable 8th in the B division of the competition. Horse trials test riders in all three disciplines of dressage, cross country jumping and show jumping . Emily Driver had a clear cross country round over a very challenging course while Becky Duffett and Natalie Fromont both produced clear show jumping rounds.
