Macleans College equestrian siblings: Year 13 student Charlotte Owen and Year 9 student Olivia Owen (both Snell House) headed to Taupo National Equestrian Centre to compete in the North Island Secondary Schools Two-Day Event over the weekend of May 18-19.

Macleans College competed as a composite team; joining forces with Reporoa College.

Charlotte finished the two-day event placing fourth in her division, and Olivia just outside the top 10.

Day one saw Charlotte and Olivia post respectable dressage scores of 61.58% and 60.26% respectively, followed by two clear show jumping rounds inside the time.

Sunday brought the Cross Country phase, a challenge course where riders jump 19 fences across a wide area including water, logs, banks and ditches. Charlotte completed the final stage of the event clear and inside the time, adding no penalties to her score. Olivia, riding a young pony, picked up one refusal on the course despite a quality performance.
