Posted on July 25, 2024
It was standing room only at the annual Eisteddfod this year, which showcased the perpetual strength of music at Macleans College.
A series of evening concerts were delivered to capacity audiences, the first of which featured the Symphonic Band led by Ms Huang and student conductor Daniel Hulley (Batten House) and the Concert Band led by Dr Miles. A highlight of the concert being the descriptive work of Steven Reineke, Goddess of Fire.
The second concert was a vocal showcase that featured a staggering number of students. Macappella were led by Melody Lowe, Aria led by Mrs Swasbrook, Aria Junior, Knights of the Castle and Macleans College Chorale all led by Mrs McNabb. A highlight of this concert was a performance given by the Chorale alongside a group of Macleans College alumni to close the evening.
The final concert was an Orchestra Showcase that featured the Sinfonietta led by Mrs Johnston, the student-led Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra led by Dr Miles. Highlights included computer game music from Advent Rising in the Bounty Hunter and film music by Hans Zimmer, the Last Samurai.
