On Saturday September 17 the school kapa haka group performed at the annual Eastern Schools Koanga festival.
This event celebrates kapa haka and Māori culture within the local community and involved more than a dozen local primary, intermediate and secondary schools.
Approximately sixty students took to the stage representing Macleans College. The group performed four items; Nuku Te Āio, Kotiro Māori e, E tō Mātou Matua i te Rangi and Huakina; with pride and energy in front of a full house at Bucklands Beach Intermediate.
It was the final performance for a number of the Year 13s leaving the college at the end of the year.
Special mention goes to Year 13 leaders Cory Hopa (Kupe House) and Rhythm Hauraki-Manukau (Kupe) as well as the other vocal leaders Braxton Anderson (Mansfield) and Kaya Hauraki-Manukau (Kupe).
