Debut gold for Macleans College Cheerleading team
Posted on September 10, 2021
The newly formed Macleans College Cheerleading team recently entered their first competition and won gold.
The Olympia Cheer competition took place last month at the North Shore Events Centre. Not only did they win gold in their division (Grade 4) in the High school Cheersports category but also the Secondary Schools Grand Champion title, beating teams from across Auckland. The team received a banner and a trophy, as well as individual medals.
Their win was especially impressive as they only had just over a term to practise their routine. Coach Charlotte Harrison from FAME Gym together with manager Sophia Lim (Snell House) led the girls to victory.
Despite being in lockdown the team have been continuing their training over zoom so they will be ready for the next competition, which will hopefully take place later this year.
