Year 13 Macleans College student Danielle Asiata (Batten House) has been offered a Sporting and Academic scholarship to a university in the USA.

Danielle will begin her scholarship in August 2025; a culmination of many years of hard work and dedication to the sport of swimming.

This year, Danielle has excelled at both local and national level. She was recently nominated in two categories at the Howick Sports Awards; Junior Sportswoman of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year. At the awards ceremony, Danielle was announced as the winner of Howick Sportswoman of the Year.

At the National Age Group Swimming Championship race meet held in Hastings earlier this year, Danielle’s success led to her being named in the New Zealand Swimming team to compete in the 2024 Tri-Series meet. Held during the October school holidays, the series consisted of two New Zealand teams competing against two Australian teams from Victoria and Western Australia.

Danielle also competed at the New Zealand Short Course Championships in August and won the following medals in the 17 - 18 year old age group.

  • Gold - 100m medley
  • Gold - 200m medley
  • Gold - 400m medley
  • Bronze - 200m butterfly
