Construction and Engineering students explore the marine industry
Posted on September 01, 2023
The Macleans College Year 12 Construction and Year 13 Engineering students recently received a visit from Tracey Eaton, a Transition Team Leader at Marine and Specialised Technologies Academy of New Zealand (MAST).
MAST Academy works with learners and employers to ensure people are trained with the necessary skills and knowledge to build successful lives and businesses. Their goal is to create a centre of excellence for marine, composite and specialised training.
The students attended a presentation on training and career opportunities which demonstrated available programmes which would allow them to earn as they learn. They were given an opportunity to use virtual reality to take a tour through luxury boats and the boat building workshops, without even stepping foot on the site.
This presentation also allowed the students to explore the possible opportunities which exist in the marine industry around the world, once qualified.
