Collection for All Saints Howick Food Bank
Posted on November 18, 2020
The local Howick food bank is based at All Saints Anglican Church in Howick and is the oldest “food bank” in New Zealand.
Macleans College was recently approached by this organisation run by Lole Turner and her close friend Margaret Prentice, wife of the foundation Principal the late Colin Prentice, to see if the school could assist in the collection of food and medical supplies.
The need in the local area is actually far greater than many are aware, mainly due to the loss of jobs and/or the reduction in salaries brought on by COVID-19 and other associated events. The school has agreed to help, with the collection being run by Mr Becroft and a team of helpers from Hillary House.
The collection is running from 16 – 27 November. Non-perishable food items in tins and sealed plastic can be placed into donation boxes located in each Whanau House.
