Bucklands Beach Intermediate Competition 2020

Posted on November 02, 2020

Eighteen students (two teams from each of Year 9 and 10) who have passionately been practising to represent Macleans College at Mathex last week, also represented Macleans College at the annual Bucklands Beach Intermediate Competition on Friday 30 October. Many of them were past students and enjoyed the experience of challenging the younger students.

Twelve teams met and competed with each other in this event.

The trainers, Darsh Chaudhari (Batten House) and Sanjit Ramesh Chandran (Hillary), entered their own team and scored 124 out of 125 – slipping up in the final question, but still winning. Just behind them was the Year 9 A-team (Raymond Zhang of Te Kanawa, Yixue Wang of Mansfield, Andrew Chen of Te Kanawa and Jesse Zhang of Te Kanawa) and then in third place the Year 10 B-team (Olivia Lin of Batten, Melinda Shao of Hillary, Joshua Yee of Batten, and Matthew Shih of Batten).

This means that the Year 9 A-team truly are champions, having won Mathex this year, and that the Year 10 B-team are a serious force to be reckoned with. Well done to all the participants and trainers.
