Bronze medals at Fencing North Secondary Schools’ Team Competition

The results are impressive and show a promising future for many of these young rising stars.

The Ladies Foil Team of captain Isabella Chen (Hillary House), Nancy Zhang (Mansfield), Clare Wang (Mansfield) and Cecilia Ma (Mansfield) ended the tournament with a bronze medal.

The Men’s B Foil Team of captain Matt Wang (Mansfield), Stacy Chong (Snell) and William Gao (Upham) ended the tournament with a nail-biting finale, winning 45-44. They were placed overall 6th. To enable another team whose members did not arrive to participate, William Lockhart (Kupe) in a show of true sportsmanship fenced for “the enemy”.

The Men’s A Foil Team of captain Andrew Yao (Upham), Eddy Zheng (Snell), Craig Chong (Upham) and Larry Lin (Batten) ended the day with a bronze medal.

Apart from the results, the teams’ comradery was so impressive that the coach emailed Macleans College to congratulate the teams, not just on their results, but also on their impressive sportsmanship.
