Batten House Fundraising Effort for Westpac Helicopter

Posted on August 29, 2016

On Wednesday 24 August the Westpac Helicopter arrived on the Macleans field with five Macleans students.

Dave Walley, (chief pilot), Simon (co-pilot) and Rusty (para-medic) accompanied the students.

Carolyn Song and Victor Sun, Batten’s Service Captains, presented a $15,000 cheque to the Westpac Helicopter crew. Dave, Simon and Rusty spoke to Batten House about how the money would be used and about the service the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust provides.

The helicopter flew back to its base carrying five other students. All ten of the students were the top fundraisers for the Trust or they organised the events.

The money was raised by various sausage sizzles, “Finding Dory” movie night, and the annual Work Day. Caitlin Smith and Adam Mellin, House Captains, organised a Carnival in Term 1 with the help of all the form classes.

The ten students receiving the helicopter ride were Carolyn Song, Victor Sun, Tessa Broadbent, Terry He, Judy Li, Charlene Lo, Brendon Lotter, Dixon Chan, Hannah Blackmore and Amelia Orchard.

Batten House looks forward to continuing the relationship with Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust in the future.
