Badminton double gold

The top Macleans College badminton players recently travelled to Ray Phillips Badminton Centre in Papakura to compete in the Counties Manukau Clash of the Smash tournament.
It was the coldest day of the year so far but the players kept warm as they dashed around the court playing several games against various other East and South Auckland schools.
The Macleans College girls’ and boys’ teams both experienced great victories in their games with the boys facing a gruelling finale against Ormiston Senior College. The girls’ team captured the attention of the other teams and were invited to a friendly match against the top boys’ team. It was a great testament to their hard work and training so far this year.
Congratulations to both teams who finished first in their divisions and were awarded with gold medals. Well done Melody Cai (Kupe House), Alicia Cao (Upham), Billy Li (Snell), Kylin Li (Rutherford), Alex Liu (Upham), Joseph Wu (Te Kanawa), Max Wu (Snell), Rosie Yang (Kupe) and Josephine Zhao (Mansfield).
