Auckland Secondary Schools Rogaine Championship

Posted on November 01, 2017

On Thursday 26 October Mr Hey and Mrs Errington took eleven students to the Auckland Secondary Schools Rogaine Championship.

The championships were located in Waimauku in very hilly and swampy terrain. The students had ninety minutes to collect as many controls as possible over the course which was very steep and boggy under foot.

The teams did very well with many of the junior members competing in the Rogaine style race for the first or second time. Charlotte Smaill (Hillary House) placed third in the Senior Girls’ competition. Josh Marryatt (Hillary) placed fourth in Junior Boys’ Individual race. Maddi Hoeneck (Snell) and Caitlin Harley (Upham) placed fifth in the Intermediate Girls’ Team event.

Unfortunately, most of the senior adventure race team were unable to compete due to an external examination. But the juniors performed well under difficult conditions and look forward to competing next year with new experience under their belts.
