Auckland Junior Get to Go Adventure Race

Posted on August 13, 2019

On Tuesday 6 August Mr Hey took a team of Macleans College students to compete in the Auckland Junior Get to Go Adventure Race.

A four-hour adventure race that consisted of paddle boarding, mountain biking, a foot rogaine and team problem solving.

Every event had its own unique challenges such as a relay with the paddleboards and spinning as many times as you could in ten minutes, to labelling parts of a mountain bike.

The team only had two returning racers with six being new to the code. They battled the rain and cold to achieve a solid fifth in the Mixed Premier division and eighth overall. The team displayed total commitment during the event and should be proud of their performance.

The team was George Fisher (Batten House), Ben Hargreaves (Snell), Kevin Daruvalla (Snell), Leo Huang (Batten), Kendal Penney (Snell), Lucy Blyth (Kupe), Lara Teodorescu (Hillary) and Jessica Hong (Rutherford).

The team learnt a lot and have developed their skills to take through to the senior events next year.
