In partnership with Arts Out East, UXBRIDGE Arts & Culture, and Te Tuhi, the Howick Youth Council’s Visual Arts Showcase provided students from East Auckland a platform to display their artwork to the public.
A number of Macleans College students showcased artworks from a wide range of media including painting, photography and mixed media.
Year 13 student Samantha Ou-Yang (Kupe House) was awarded first place in the photography category for her layered photographic image which manipulates the idea of time and her intergenerational family.
Year 12 student Joyce Xu (Mansfield) was awarded first place in the non-digital category for her mixed media acrylic painting. Within her work Joyce experiments with both digital and hand made media.
The Visual Arts Showcase is open to the public at UXBRIDGE Arts & Culture until Saturday 5 October.
