Macleans College artists selected for Pat Hanly Creative Project exhibition
Posted on August 26, 2024
A group of Macleans College Year 13 visual artists who submitted work for the Pat Hanly Creative Project were immersed in critical dialogue about their artworks as Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki staff, Kendra Stoner and Aya Francis visited the school.
Stoner and Francis discussed the work with students as part of their curatorial process in selecting two artworks to proceed in the award to the exhibition of artworks from all participating secondary schools. The selected artworks were photographic works - one a beautifully atmospheric diptych by Nicholas Cao (Hillary House) and one an emotively quiet portrait by Alisa Zhai (Kupe).
The two successful works will now be part of a special exhibition which is the culmination of the collaborative project at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. All project participants have been invited to the opening night of the show on Friday 30 August. The exhibition will run in the gallery for public viewing until 13 October.
