On Friday 1 November Mr Hey and Mrs Durham took the Macleans College Adventure Race team down to Taranaki to compete in the Steelformers Around the Mountain Relay race.
The team of Amelia Winstone (Kupe House), Nico Muller (Kupe), Connor McLeay (Snell), George Fisher (Batten), Jessica Hong (Rutherford), Leo Huang (Batten), Isaac Liu (Upham) and Zoia Lio (Kupe) performed exceedingly well placing second in the school competition.
The 160km race started at a less than comfortable 2.30 am. The eight runners did an incredible job, with most running three legs which is the maximum leg amount allowed. The Macleans College team went up against much bigger teams that meant they were competing against fresher runners so it is testament about the determination and grit shown by our racers.
Their performance was outstanding and the runners set a blistering pace throughout the race.
