Annual Scholars’ Assembly

The annual Scholars’ Assembly was held at Macleans College on Friday.

The assembly recognised students who had achieved at the highest level in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority Scholarship Examinations for 2015.

In the 2015 Scholarship examinations, students gained 164 Scholarships, up from 131 the year before.

Five students achieved Top-in-the-World and 13 gained Top-in-New Zealand awards at CIE.

These results continue to place Macleans College as the top achieving co-educational school in New Zealand.

The Head Prefects with their parents were introduced to the assembly.

Dux Of Macleans College 2015

The Dux prize for 2015 is awarded to the Macleans student who achieved the highest grades in the annual NZQA Scholarship examinations.

The Dux of Macleans College receives the Allen McDonald Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Macleans College Parent Teacher Association in recognition of the contribution of Allen McDonald, the second Principal of Macleans College, particularly with regard to the school’s scholastic achievement.

The scholarship is worth $1,000.00.

This prestigious Scholarship is awarded for 2015 to Zhong Huang of Rutherford.

Premier Scholar Award

Premier Scholarships are awarded to the very top 5 to 10 candidates in New Zealand. The minimum requirement to be considered for this award is at least three Scholarships at “Outstanding” Level. The number of recipients for this award is restricted and achieving the minimum requirement will not guarantee an award.

Premier Scholars receive $10,000 each year for three years as long as they maintain at least a ‘B’ grade average in tertiary study.
