Annual Scholars’ Assembly

The annual Scholars’ Assembly was held at Macleans College on Friday.

The assembly recognised students who had achieved at the highest level in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority Scholarship Examinations for 2016.

In the 2016 Scholarship examinations, students gained 150 Scholarships, including 25 at Outstanding level.

Five students achieved Top-in-the-World and 15 gained Top-in-New Zealand awards at CIE.

These results continue to place Macleans College as one of the top achieving co-educational schools in New Zealand.

The Head Prefects with their parents were introduced to the assembly.

Premier Scholars receive $10,000 each year for three years as long as they maintain at least a ‘B’ grade average in tertiary study.

Dux Of Macleans College 2016

The Dux prize for 2016 is awarded to the Macleans student who achieved the highest grades in the annual NZQA Scholarship examinations.

The Dux of Macleans College receives the Allen McDonald Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Macleans College Parent Teacher Association in recognition of the contribution of Allen McDonald, the second Principal of Macleans College, particularly with regard to the school’s scholastic achievement.

The scholarship is worth $1,000.00.

The Macleans College Dux of 2016 and recipient of the Allen McDonald Scholarship is jointly awarded to Ben Zhang and Lucas Lee.
