Annual Ooh La La Girls’ Art Competition

On Friday 18 August the Annual Ooh La La Girls’ Art Exhibition was held in the Art department.

This was judged by former Art staff member and photographer Kate Wark and Paul Simmet from Gordon Harris Art supplies. A special award was made by Deputy Principal Madeline Thompson. One hundred and eighty entries were received. The judges were very impressed with the outstanding standard of work in all fields of film, photography, jewellery, sculpture, painting, textiles and design.

The winning entry was by Mary Wei 13MCLM entitled Chips and Chopsticks. Mary won a $100 voucher from Fresh Choice supermarket.

Jackie Liu 13LAYS won second prize with her painting My yoke is easy. This was a $100 voucher from Gordon Harris Art Supplies.

Alexandra Smith 11SARU was third with her video installation The act of living. Her prize was sponsored by Howick Art Supplies and Annah Stretton.

The junior prizes were won by Maggie Xian 9GLEM and Robyn Abrahams 10TOWT.

Macleans College staff had the opportunity to display their talent. The snapshot competition was won by Miss Martinique Glass and the bouquet throwing competition was decisively won by Deputy Principal Chris Cottell-Mayhew who also acted as MC for the event.

The Art Department were very grateful for the outstanding support of all the sponsors without whom this event would not have been possible.
