Ancient Roman inspired festivities in Year 13 Classical Studies

Following their return to school after examinations last week the Year 13 Classical Studies students participated in a traditional Roman ‘sacrifice’ to ask the goddess of wisdom for support in their upcoming external exams.
Dressed in togas, students proceeded to the ‘temple’ with their sacrificial animal (Jeff the toy pig), undertaking to please the goddess with rhythmic music and promises of gifting their study notes (‘fat with knowledge and alive with learning’) to the goddess should she grant their request.
Students then feasted on Roman delicacies such as olives, feta, dates, flat bread and ‘stuffed dormice’ (cheerios).
