Action shot awarded second place in photography competition

Macleans College Year 12 student Joseph Zhang (Batten House) was awarded second place in the 2024 New Zealand Secondary Schools Photography Competition (NZSSPC).
Joseph’s photography, titled ‘Athletics Day’ was an action shot of Macleans College Principal Mr Hargreaves, competing in the teachers relay race earlier this year.
The feedback given complimented Joseph's photography skills, capturing the students watching and cheering for Mr Hargreaves, using depth of field and excellent timing.
The prize consisted of a $400 photogear voucher as well as a book from the Photographic Society of New Zealand. Macleans College photography students are encouraged to participate in photography competitions throughout the year.
