Posted on August 17, 2020
On Friday 14 August, Act Party Leader David Seymour had an online Zoom session to talk to the Year 13 Social Studies classes.
During the forty five minute Zoom the MP was able to discuss his piece of legislature, the “End of Life Choice Act”, which is going to be voted by the public as part of the referendum in the upcoming election. Mr Seymour spoke about his personal views on the act and beliefs concerning the right to freedom and individual choice.
While answering questions regarding the act, he was also able to let the students gain primary research for an upcoming internal surrounding Seymour’s projected law. This question panel was essential to developing the students' understanding of the End of Life Choice Act and helped their own perspectives and evaluation skills evolve and grow.
Many thanks to Mr Seymour for taking time out of his day to speak to the Macleans College Social Studies classes, and thank you to Ms Glass for organising the talk.
